Pharmacotherapy in patients with adenomyosis

This article presents a literature review on the problem of pharmacotherapy for adenomyosis. A comparative analysis of the efficacy of various hormonal agents was performed. The article emphasizes the advantages of dienogest (Alvovizan), which effectively relieves clinical symptoms of adenomyosis such as dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain, and heavy menstrual bleeding. Compared to levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS), dienogest significantly faster reduces the severity of pain syndrome and shortens the duration of abnormal uterine bleeding. Menstrual cycle normalization was noted with dienogest and combined oral contraceptives (COCs), but dienogest was more effective. In a comparative analysis of ovarian volumes, it was recorded that there was a significant decrease in ovarian size in both comparison groups. Conclusion. Dienogest (Alvovizan) is an effective medication for pain relief in adenomyosis. It promotes uterine volume reduction, which significantly improves the quality of life of patients. Abnormal uterine bleeding is effectively controlled by this medication.
