EndoChoice: Development and piloting of an online decision aid to support endometriosis management decision making

other OA: green CC0

Abstract

People living with endometriosis (PLWE) commonly feel inadequately informed and overwhelmed about the available endometriosis treatment options and are often forced to adopt a trail-and-error approach to treatment. This project aims to utilise a codesign process to develop EndoChoice, an online decision aid to support informed treatment decision making of PLWE by actively considering pros and cons of available options and through values clarification exercises enabling decisions that reflect personal values, needs and preferences. By complementing and leveraging existing Australian endometriosis information (e.g., EndoAustralia, EndoZone) resources, EndoChoice provides an important resource for PLWE and clinicians alike. This project aims to empower PLWE by offering them choice and control over their own endometriosis healthcare via (1) developing the online decision aid (EndoChoice) co-designed by clinicians, researchers and PLWE; and (2) assessing the user experience and acceptability of EndoChoice.
