Unexpected disappearance of lower limb deep venous thrombosis in an elderly patient following fracture: a case report

The older patients with intertrochanteric fractures often develop lower limb deep venous thrombosis after bed rest, which not only seriously affects their treatment, but also increases the expensive cost of treatment. Here, we describe an 84-year-old female with a history of significant hypertension and diabetes. Following injury, she was admitted to the hospital and underwent a series of laboratory tests, including X-ray examination. She was hospitalized for a right intertrochanteric fracture and prepared for surgical treatment, but developed deep vein thrombosis in the lower limb 2 days after admission. This case emphasizes the importance of low molecular weight heparin calcium anticoagulant therapy after lower limb deep vein thrombosis occurs.
