The studies published to date seem to show that the rates of long-term prolapse or incontinence and the quality of life after LASH do not differ from those after other techniques of hysterectomy. Therefore, we present VH and the two laparoscopic methods to our patients as equally valid alternatives and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure. Even in obese patients and those with a large uterus, the two laparoscopic techniquesLASH and LAVHcan often be used instead of AH (e6). We have thus been able to reduce the rate of AH for benign diseases of the uterus to less than 5% in our institution.
