Abstract

Objective:To investigate the clinical features and prognosis of ovarian clear-cell carcinoma, and its relation with endometriosis. Methods:Seventy cases with primary ovarian clear-cell carcinoma patients between Jan. 1982 to Dec. 2001 in Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Results:Their FIGO surgical-pathological stage was as follows: 44Ⅰ, 13Ⅱ, 13Ⅲ. Overall 5-year-survival was 45.52%. All the 70 patients were treated with cytoreductive surgery, 62 cases were satisfactory (88.6 %); 8 cases were unsatisfactory (11.4%). The 5-year-survival of were 61.52% and 7.59% respectively (P0.05). After operation, 5 cases abandoned chemotherapy, other 65 cases accepted chemotherapy with PT (DDP and TAXOL), PAC (DDP, EADM and CTX), etc. within one or two weeks, for total three to eight cycles. The incidence of endometriosis showed no significant difference between the groups. Conclusions: Unlike other ovarian epithelial carcinoma, clear cell carcinoma's clinical stage is early but isn't sensitive to chemotherapy. It easily recurs at early time with poor prognosis. Pathological results don't show any correlation between endometriosis and the prognosis of ovarian clear cell carcinoma.
