Abstract

Background: Endometriosis is a widespread problem that has devastating effectson women reproductive health, causing chronic pelvic pain and correlated withsignificantly negative impacts on sexual life quality. Aim: To evaluate the effect of continuous care model onpain coping strategies and sexual quality of life among women with endometriosisrelated chronic pelvic pain. Design: In order to accomplish the aim of thisresearch, a quasi-experimental research design, specifically a one-group timeseries design, was implemented. Setting: The study was carried out at theObstetrics & Gynecological Outpatient Clinic within the Qaliobya governorate ofEgypt, which is affiliated with Benha University Hospitals. Sample: 76 womenwho were medically diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain associated withendometriosis were selected as a purposive sample. Tools: A structured self-administered questionnaire, numerical rating scale, coping strategiesquestionnaire and the sexual quality of life-female questionnaire. Results: At thepre-intervention, one-month, and three-month post-intervention stages, there wasa highly significant difference in the pain coping techniques, pain severity, andsexual life quality of the women who were evaluated. Conclusion: Thecontinuous care model application was effective in reducing pelvic pain severity.This was accomplished by improving pain coping strategies, which resulted in animprovement in the sexual quality of life for women who experienced chronicpelvic pain associated with endometriosis. The results supported the researchhypotheses. Recommendations: Using the continuous care model as a standardnursing intervention to help women with chronic pelvic pain associated withendometriosis improve their sexual quality of life and pain coping strategies.
