Évolution de la qualité de vie après une chirurgie d’endométriose

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of surgery on the quality of life of patients with endometriosis. We also examined the association between the severity of pre-existing lesions and the improvement in quality of life. Methods: This was a quantitative study conducted with 10 women with confirmed endometriosis followed at the Belledonne Clinic in Grenoble by Dr Julien Escalon. The patients completed an anonymous questionnaire between November and December 2023. The questionnaire consisted of two quality of life scores, the EHP-5 and EQ5D, filled out both preoperatively and postoperatively. The AAGL surgical complexity score associated with each patient was then correlated with the potential gain in quality of life obtained. Results: A significant improvement in EHP-5 and EQ5D scores was achieved, with quality of life improving for all patients three months after surgery. No correlation was found between the level of pre-existing lesions and the gain in quality of life. Conclusion: Quality of life is improved by surgery at three months postoperatively. EHP-5 and EQ5D are suitable tools for evaluating quality of life. The use of a severity score for lesions would be relevant in more extensive studies with larger sample sizes.
