Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics influencing the therapeutic effects and prognosis of ovarian clear cell carcinoma. Methods 34 patients with ovarian clear cell carcinoma from 1987~1998 were reviewed and the clinical characteristics were analyzed. Both Kaplan Meier method and Cox proportional hazards modeling were used to identify those clinical characteristics associated with the survival and prognosis of patients. Results The overall 5 year. survival rate was 27.8%. Univariate analysis indicated that patients with early pathological stage ( P =0 0007),responsed to chemotherapy ( P =0 0046), without platinum based chemotherapy ( P =0 0841) exibited a better prognosis, while age, endometriosis and residual tumor burden did not impact the survival. Multivariate survival analysis showed stage as an independent prognostic variable for ovarian clear cell carcinoma ( P =0 0297).Conclusion In order to improve the survival of ovarian clear cell carcinoma, both active treatment of early stage patients and choice of new anticancer drugs and regimes are necessary.$$$$
