Abstract
Abstract Zhaili kiln is considered one of the earliest kilns sites in northern China, however, there is currently little comprehensive research on the Zhaili production. Therefore, in this study, scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrometer and X-ray diffraction were performed on thirty pieces of typical Zhaili celadon from the late sixth to seven centuries to explore their raw material feature and manufacturing technique. In addition, the motivations for the initiation of Zhaili celadon were also further explored.
