Die Rolle von TWIST beim invasiven Wachstum der Endometriose
This study investigated TWIST expression in endometriosis lesions for the first time, addressing the lack of identified regulatory mechanisms despite known modulation of E- and N-cadherin.

This study investigated the expression of the transcription factor TWIST in endometriosis lesions to determine its potential role in invasive growth. Researchers analyzed 40 endometriosis lesions via immunohistochemistry and examined primary cell cultures from eleven samples using RT-PCR. The results demonstrated that TWIST was consistently expressed in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells within all examined lesions, with nine out of eleven primary cell cultures also showing positive expression. The authors conclude that TWIST may be a crucial factor promoting the invasive and metastatic potential of endometriosis by regulating E-cadherin and N-cadherin levels. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically examining the molecular mechanisms driving lesion invasion through TWIST expression.
