Abstract

Background: Globe pandemic of COVID-19 endangers the frontline healthcare workers in 2020. To our knowledge, no studies about the HCWs in a field hospital special for COVID-19 has been reported. Here we aimed to report the health status of HCWs in a field hospital in the epicenter Wuhan, China. Methods: Retrospective analysis of the 1184 HCWs in the field hospital (Leishenshan Hospital) in Wuhan, China, from February 25, 2020 to April 3, 2020. Epidemiological, demographic, clinical, laboratory, radiological, and treatment data were retrieved and analyzed. COVID-19 infection data of HCWS in Leishenshan Hospital were investigated. Findings: In 1184 HCWs, 25 HCWs (2.11%) have fevers, 59 HCWs (4.98%) with cough, 119 HCWs (10.06%) with other chronic diseases, 980 HCWs (82.85%) with no symptoms. Out of 1184 HCWs, 1085 (91.64%) received RT-PCR tests with no positive report. 337 (18.2%) received the blood antibody test of COVID-19 with a positive test of IgG in 7 HCWs. 72 of 1184 received a CT scan of Chest with a space-occupying lesion in upper-right in one worker. Three of seven HCWs with positive IgG antibody were confirmed COVID-19 cases before working in Leishenshan Hospital, and the other 4 HCWs presented no symptom. Interpretation: HCWs can be spared from the high risk of COVID-2019 during the pandemic with the full access to personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control in a field hospital.Funding Statement: The study was supported by the Key Project for Anti-2019 novel Coronavirus Pneumonia from the Ministry of Science and Technology, China (no. 2020YFC0845500). Declaration of Interests: The authors declare no competing interests.Ethics Approval Statement: The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University (No.2020073), and the need for informed consent was waived.
