Crime analysis Addis Ababa sub-cities, reflecting the impact of policing efforts, and community involvement in crime prevention

Abstract This research analyzes crime trends across sub-cities in Addis Ababa over the years 2018–2022, focusing on how policing strategies and community involvement have influenced crime patterns. The study identifies fluctuations in crime rates, highlighting the impact of, post-pandemic challenges, and ongoing security efforts. Kirkos, Addis Ketema, and Arada display distinct trends that reflect localized policing efforts and varying levels of community participation. Findings indicate that while certain efforts have been effective, there is a need for improved community engagement and real-time monitoring to ensure sustainable crime reduction. Recommendations include refining targeted interventions and strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and residents.
