Abstract

Background: Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVT) following ChAdOx-1-S vaccination is an extremely rare event. To date, no cases have been reported from India. Materials and methods: A 44 year old lady presented with a thunderclap headache. Evaluation revealed thrombocytopenia, purpura and CVT. ELISA anti PF4 antibodies were detected consistent with a Thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). Conclusions: After identification of TTS, she made an uneventful recovery with non heparin anticoagulants. It is important to recognise this syndrome as heparin and heparin analogues are contraindicated in the treatment and TTS resembles heparin induced thrombocytopenia syndrome.
