Abstract

The most appropriate method for the management of women with endometriosis remains a subject of considerable debate and one that is unlikely to be resolved scientifically in the near future. To a great extent, this debate continues because of lack of well designed, randomized controlled trials to assess comparative treatment paradigms based on outcomes that can be measured objectively. Thus, the proponents of surgical treatment and the proponents of medical therapy commonly argue their separate cases on the basis more of personal passion rather than of objective, scientific data.
