Abstract

This study explores the investment appraisal of telemedicine platforms within private hospitals, assessing their financial viability, strategic value, and long-term sustainability. The purpose of the research is to determine whether telemedicine implementation generates sufficient economic and non-economic benefits to justify the required capital expenditure. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining financial evaluation tools such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period with qualitative assessments through interviews with hospital administrators and technology managers. Findings indicate that while the initial investment is substantial, telemedicine platforms demonstrate strong potential for cost savings, improved patient access, and revenue diversification. Key benefits include reduced readmission rates, higher patient retention, and expanded service reach, especially in underserved areas. The analysis suggests that private hospitals adopting telemedicine can achieve a positive return on investment within 3-5 years, provided they integrate robust digital infrastructure and effective staff training. Overall, telemedicine represents a strategically sound and financially feasible investment for private healthcare providers.
