Abstract

Objective To assess the value of detection of serum CA125 and EMAb in diagnosis of adenomyosis and differential diagnosis of hysteromyoma. Methods 199 cases confirmed by pathological diagnosis were divided into adenomyosis group consisted of 64cases and hysteromyoma group consisted of 135cases and analyzed retrospectively. The levels of serum CA125 and EMAb in the patients were determined and ultrasonography was conducted before operation. Results The positive rates of serum CA125 and EMAb were significantly higher in adenomyosis group than those in hysteromyoma group (73.44% vs 11.11% and 51.56 vs 11.85% respectively; P0.01). The rate of detecting adenomyosis by ultrasonography (51.56%) was remarkably lower than the positive rates of serum CA125 and EMAb (P0.05). Conclusion Levels of serum CA125 and EMAb can serve as good indices in assistant diagnosis and differential diagnosis of adenomyosis. Ultrasonography plays a role in diagnosing this disease. Determination of serum CA125 and EMAb combined with ultrasonography may improve the accuracy of diagnosis.
