This prospective exploratory study evaluated anamnestic parameters in 158 symptomatic women undergoing laparoscopy for dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, chronic pelvic pain, or infertility. Participants completed standardized medical and psychological stress-processing questionnaires before being categorized into endometriosis or control groups based on histological confirmation. The results indicated that patients with endometriosis had significantly fewer pregnancies and births, shorter menstrual cycles, and identified the first day of menstruation as their most painful day more frequently than controls. Additionally, endometriosis patients reported greater relief from pain medication and a higher tendency to use substances during stress compared to the control group. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically using anamnestic screening to identify clinical characteristics that distinguish affected patients from healthy controls.
