Die Rolle des Oxytocin Rezeptors (OTR) und Vasopressin Rezeptors (VPR) in der Pathogenese der Adenomyosis uteri (AM)-assoziierten Dysmenorrhoe
This study investigated the expression of oxytocin and vasopressin receptors in adenomyosis and their potential role in associated dysmenorrhea, as previous mechanisms remain unclear.

The study investigated whether oxytocin receptor (OTR) and vasopressin receptor (VPR) expression is altered in adenomyosis uteri (AM)-associated dysmenorrhea by immunohistochemically analyzing 40 uteri from premenopausal women with histologically confirmed AM, using paired samples from AM lesions in myometrium/corpus and endometrium. It found mild to strong OTR expression in epithelial cells within AM lesions without a cycle-dependent pattern, while stromal cells in the lesions were largely negative; the myometrium adjacent to lesions was notably compact and showed strong OTR expression. VPR expression was not detected in epithelial or stromal cells of AM lesions or in endometrium, although mild to strong VPR expression was observed in the myometrium. The paper relates directly to adenomyosis, focusing on OTR/VPR expression as a proposed contributor to AM-associated dysmenorrhea mechanisms.
