Abstract

Purpose:Ultrasound-guided interventional therapy had been proved an effective means for female pelvic cysts.A 10 years experience of performing the treatment was summarized in this article.Materials and Methods:Ultrasound-guided aspiration and alcohol sclerosis therapy were undertaken in 1061 female patients with pelvic cysts.Follow-up was performed for a period of 3 to 24 months after therapy.Results:99.8%(1059/1061) of patients were successfully treated by the ultrasound-guided aspiration without any significant complication. Some 8.3% cases, especially those of endometriotic cysts, needed repeat treatment with US-guidance.The overall therapeutic efficacy of ultrasound guided aspiration and alcohol sclerosis treatment was similar to that of laparoscopy or laparotomy. Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of Ultrasound-guided aspiration and alcohol sclerosis was satisfactory.
