Abstract
Sjögren’s syndrome is an autoimmune disease that affects multiple organs manifesting as different symptoms and signs. Neuropsychiatric manifestations are one of the symptoms and are common at the onset of the disease and during its course. The most frequent symptoms are depression and anxiety (5). However, the association with bipolar disorder seems rare and not frequently documented. Our case report presents a Sjögren’s syndrome patient with bipolar disorder, suggesting that this could lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment. If it is suspected, a better analysis should be done by psychiatrists to help early diagnosis and adapting prescription. Corticosteroid treatment used in Sjögren’s syndrome should be avoided and, if prescribed, used with caution in bipolar disorder.
