Abstract

Objective: To discuss the effect of uterine artery embolization( UAE) for the treatment of adenomyosis on menstruation and ovarian function. Methods: 45 cases with adenomyosis who performed uterine artery embolization were chosen as UAE group,45 cases who performed hysterectomy in the same period were chosen as LAVH group, while 45 health people were chosen as control group. FSH and E2value before and after treatment were observed and compared in three groups. The quality of life in LAVH group and UAE group were compared, and the menstrual conditions of UAE group was observed. Results: FSH value of LAVH group in 7 d after operation was obviously higher than that before operation( P 0. 05),it showed an increasing tendency with the increasing of time and it obviously higher than that before operation( P 0. 01). While E2value was obviously lower than that before operation,it showed an decreasing tendency with the increasing of time and it obviously lower than that before operation( P 0. 01). FSH value in LAVH group was obviously higher than that in UAE group after 1 year and 3 years( P 0. 01),while E2value was obviously lower than that in UAE group( P 0. 01). Menstruation of43 cases( 95. 56%) in UAE group was improved after 3 months. All the cases' menstrual cycle and period returned to normal after 3-4months,dysmenorrhea completely disappeared after 5-6 months, and anemia was improved. The values of UAE group in physiological, psychological, social and subjective field were obviously higher than those in LAVH group after 1 year. Each index of living quality in UAE group were superior to those in LAVH group after 3 years( P 0. 05 or 0. 01). Conclusion: Uterine artery embolization can improve menstruation and ovarian function of adenomyosis patients, and thus can improve their quality of life. It is worth spreading in clinic.
