This nursing bachelor’s-level literature study analyzed two women’s autobiographies to describe their experiences of living with endometriosis from an autobiographical, in-from-the-perspective (inifrånperspektiv) standpoint, using manifest qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach. The analysis generated four categories: the disease negatively affects life, dependence on care creates frustration, care and treatment complicate everyday life, and the women needed support and desired security/assurance. Key findings emphasized that endometriosis impacted daily life through feelings of injustice, loneliness in pain, and fear of being left, with perceived shortcomings in care leading to feelings of powerlessness. The paper concludes that nurses have an important role in creating trust, security, and hope during care, and it notes that further research is needed to improve support and how women are met by healthcare. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it focuses on qualitative synthesis of two women’s self-described experiences living with endometriosis and how care interactions affect them.
