Abstract

Abstract Dance Intangible Cultural Heritage (DICH) reflects the unique ways of thinking, values, emotions, customs, and lifestyles of local communities. It serves as an essential medium for conveying national identity and preserving historical memory.Therefore, analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and influencing factors of DICH provides a scientific basis for developing the cultural industry, promoting regional economic growth, and advancing sustainable development.This study focuses on 350 items of China’s national-level DICH, employing GIS-based spatial analysis to examine their spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and influencing factors.The results indicate that: (1) The spatiotemporal distribution of DICH in China exhibits distinct clustering and stage-dependent characteristics, with concentrations primarily in regions inhabited by ethnic minorities, economically developed areas, and areas with rich historical and cultural heritage.(2)The overall distribution pattern of DICH demonstrates a “dense in the east, sparse in the west” characteristic, forming a “seven-core, two-belt” spatiotemporal structure.(3) The primary influencing factors include the natural environment, socioeconomic conditions, and historical-cultural elements. Among them, natural and historical-cultural factors provide the fundamental conditions for the formation of DICH, while socioeconomic factors are the main drivers of its sustainable development.

and lifestyles of local communities. It serves as an essential medium for conveying national identity and preserving historical memory.Therefore, analyzing the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and influencing factors of DICH provides a scientific basis for developing the cultural industry, promoting regional economic growth, and advancing sustainable development.This study focuses on 350 items of China\u0026rsquo;s national-level DICH, employing GIS-based spatial analysis to examine their spatiotemporal distribution characteristics and influencing factors.The results indicate that: (1) The spatiotemporal distribution of DICH in China exhibits distinct clustering and stage-dependent characteristics, with concentrations primarily in regions inhabited by ethnic minorities, economically developed areas, and areas with rich historical and cultural heritage.(2)The overall distribution pattern of DICH demonstrates a \u0026ldquo;dense in the east, sparse in the west\u0026rdquo; characteristic, forming a \u0026ldquo;seven-core, two-belt\u0026rdquo; spatiotemporal structure.(3) The primary influencing factors include the natural environment, socioeconomic conditions, and historical-cultural elements. Among them, natural and historical-cultural factors provide the fundamental conditions for the formation of DICH, while socioeconomic factors are the main drivers of its sustainable development.\u003c/p\u003e","manuscriptTitle":"Spatiotemporal Distribution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Chinese Traditional Dance Intangible Cultural Heritage","msid":"","msnumber":"","nonDraftVersions":[{"code":1,"date":"2025-11-21 23:36:48","doi":"10.21203/rs.3.rs-7755087/v1","editorialEvents":[{"type":"communityComments","content":0}],"status":"published","journal":{"display":true,"email":"[email protected]","identity":"researchsquare","isNatureJournal":false,"hasQc":true,"allowDirectSubmit":true,"externalIdentity":"","sideBox":"","snPcode":"","submissionUrl":"/submission","title":"Research Square","twitterHandle":"researchsquare","acdcEnabled":true,"dfaEnabled":false,"editorialSystem":"","reportingPortfolio":"","inReviewEnabled":false,"inReviewRevisionsEnabled":true}}],"origin":"","ownerIdentity":"45f9f796-70bd-49c0-bee7-fa12e446a296","owner":[],"postedDate":"November 21st, 2025","published":true,"recentEditorialEvents":[],"rejectedJournal":[],"revision":"","amendment":"","status":"posted","subjectAreas":[{"id":58115923,"name":"Humanities/Cultural and media studies"},{"id":58115924,"name":"Social science/Cultural and media studies"},{"id":58115925,"name":"Social science/Development studies"},{"id":58115926,"name":"Social science/Environmental studies"},{"id":58115927,"name":"Scientific community and society/Geography"},{"id":58115928,"name":"Social science/Geography"},{"id":58115929,"name":"Social science/Sociology"}],"tags":[],"updatedAt":"2026-02-18T05:40:00+00:00","versionOfRecord":[],"versionCreatedAt":"2025-11-21 23:36:48","video":"","vorDoi":"","vorDoiUrl":"","workflowStages":[]},"version":"v1","identity":"rs-7755087","journalConfig":"researchsquare"},"__N_SSP":true},"page":"/article/[identity]/[[...version]]","query":{"redirect":"/article/rs-7755087","identity":"rs-7755087","version":["v1"]},"buildId":"8U1c8b4HqxoKbykW_rLl7","isFallback":false,"isExperimentalCompile":false,"dynamicIds":[84888],"gssp":true,"scriptLoader":[]}
