Abstract

In this paper, three scenarios for cellular communications are analyzed and compared, taking into account the Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SIR), and Average Data Rate. The analysis involves the coverage analysis that includes the derivation of the mathematical expressions for the coverage user probability distribution, the SIR and the transmission rate. The three scenarios are: universal reuse, sectorization by cell and cell sectorization with Beamforming. Results show that Beamforming out-performs the others, presenting an increment in the average SIR up to 10 dB. Also, it offers an improvement in Data Rate which is 27% better in the ring 1, 113% better in the ring 2 and 700% better in the ring 3.
