Comprehensive analysis of NovaSure® endometrial ablation in patients with heavy menstrual bleeding: Identifying success rate and predictive factors for post-NovaSure® hysterectomy
This retrospective single-center cohort study analyzed outcomes of 469 patients with heavy menstrual bleeding undergoing NovaSure endometrial ablation, focusing on the success rate and factors predicting subsequent hysterectomy. Among 446 with successful ablation, 82.9% reported satisfaction after 3 months, with 37.3% reporting amenorrhea at that time, and 11.4% underwent hysterectomy over a mean follow-up of 18.5 months. Shorter ablation procedure duration, higher BMI, and a larger uterine cavity were significantly associated with hysterectomy, and pathology showed adenomyosis in 52.9% of removed uteri; the authors reported complications in 2.9% of procedures.
