In this context, the integration of bioindicators, capable of reflecting ecological responses, and geoprocessing tools, such as remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), represents a promising approach for the multiscale assessments of such impacts. This study conducted a simplified scientometric review of the literature published between 2015 and 2025 on the Web of Science Core Collection, aiming to analyze the combined uses of these approaches in studies on land use and environmental quality. Twenty-four articles were selected according to defined inclusion criteria. The results indicate predominant use of aquatic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators and GIS as the primary geoprocessing tool. Although most studies have shown complementary relationships between processes, few have managed to propose methods that consistently interrelate both areas, with an apparent gap being the lack of use of terrestrial bioindicators and infrequent application of remote indexes for validation or complementation of data. Nevertheless, the state of complementarity was promising, residing in the articulation between how environments are pressured, demonstrated by spatial data, and the ecological consequences of these pressures, detected by bioindicators. It is concluded that the integration between bioindicators and geotechnologies has the potential to improve environmental monitoring but requires the development of more robust analytical methods to consolidate their application in assessing the impacts of land use. Ask this paper AI returns verbatim quotes from the full text · source: preprint-html

Answers must be backed by verbatim quotes from this paper's full text. Hallucinated quotes are dropped automatically; if no verbatim passage answers the question, we say so. How this works

Citation neighborhood (no data yet)

We don't have any in-corpus citations linked to this paper yet. This is a recent paper (2025) — citers typically take a year or two to land, and the OpenAlex reference graph may still be filling in.
