Abstract
Objective To explore the expression and significance of EMMPRIN,MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in endometriosis. Methods Immunohistochemical method was employed to detect the expression of EMMPRIN,MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in the ectopic endometrium of 36 patients with endometriosis, the eutopic endometrium of 36 patients with endometriosis and the normal controls(n=20),then the correlation of the expression of them was analyzed. Results The positive expression rates of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 in the ectopic endometrium group were significantly higher than those of the eutopic endometrium group and the normal endometrium group(P0.05).The positive expression rate of TIMP-2 in the ectopic endometrium group was significantly lower than that of the eutopic endometrium group and the normal endometrium group(P0.05).There was a positive correlation between the expression levels of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 in the ectopic endometrium group(P0.01),and there was a negative correlation between the expression levels of MMP-2 and TIMP-2,but the consistency was poor(P0.05).Conclusions EMMPRIN,MMP-2 and TIMP-2 are all involved in the process of invasion and tissue remodeling, which is supposed to be part of pathogenesis of endometriosis. The high expression of MMP-2 in the ectopic endometrium suggests that the ectopic endometrium with endometriosis may be more invasive and prone to peritoneal implantation.
