Abstract

Abstract Using the exponentiated approach and three-parameter Weibull distribution as a baseline function, a newly generalized distribution called the exponentially generalized modified Weibull distribution was formed. The distribution was shown to be a proper density function using one of the properties of a proper probability density function. The statistical properties of the distribution were studied, and graphs of its probability density and cumulative density functions were plotted using varying parameter values. The stability of the parameters in the distribution was shown using a Monte Carlo simulation approach. The superiority of the distribution was shown using real life data. It was concluded that the exponentially generalized modified Weibull distribution can be adopted in modelling events involving distributions of its category.
