From Identity to Enaction: Identity Behavior Theory
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
Identity Behavior Theory (IBT) is proposed as an action model of behavior concerned with the role that identity plays in the prediction of behavioral enaction, the process whereby individuals shape their experiences through planning and successful action. Behavioral enaction comprises behavioral intention and behavioral action, and, as part of IBT, is assessed along with identity, attitudes, and resilience comprising personal strength and support. In this paper, identity theory and IBT are reviewed. Recommendations for using IBT in research and practice are offered.
