Abstract
bjectives:To investigate the therapeutic effect of gastrinone and mifepristone on experimental en-dometriosis in rats. Design:Experimental studies in rats. Settings:Laboratory in the Center of Reproductive Medicine Tongji Medical University.Metbods:Mature female S. D. rats with experimental endometriosis induced by surgical operation were divided into 8 groups; control;castrated;danazol 20 mg/kg;gestrinone 0.125,0.25,0.5 mg/kg;mifepristone 10,50mg/kg.After daily oral administration for 3 weeks, the rats were laparotomized again, the ectopic en-dometriall implants were weighed their morphologic features were analysed quantitatively by semi-automatic image analysis system, the serum estradiol and progesterone concentrations were determined with RIA. Results:Atrophy of ectopic endometrial implants was shown in all experimental groups, except in groups treated with 0.12 5 mg/kg gestrinone or 10mg/kg mifepristone.Serum estradiol and progesterone concentrations decreased singificantly in the 0.25,0.5mg/kg gestri none treated-groups. Serum proges-terone concentration increased considerably in the 50 mg/kg mifepristone treated-group.Conculsion:Gestrinone(0.25,0.5mg/kg)and mifepristone(50 mg/kg)presented an inhibitory effect on ectopic endometrial implants in rats with experimental endometriosis.
