The relationship between homocysteine and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: Results from NHANES 2001-2006 and mendelian randomization Study

Abstract
We analyzed the relationship between homocysteine concentration in blood and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and related dyspnea by using the data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database and Mendel Randomization (MR), and found that the increase of cysteine concentration will promote the occurrence of COPD dyspnea. What is known about ——this topic-sufficient sample size or Mendelian randomized analysis can well determine the relevant causal relationship. Summarize the impact of this study——in the past few years, some studies have recognized the relationship between cysteine level and acute exacerbation of COPD, but these studies have a small sample size and are not authoritative enough. What does this study add——the level of cysteine in blood may be affected by the number of smoking and drinking.
