Association of Dyslipidemia, Renal dysfunction, and Uricemia with HPV mediated Cervical Cancer

Abstract
Abstract Recently obesity, dyslipidemia and uricemia has been implemented in cancer progression and development. Therefore, in the present study lipid profile, renal function and uric acid levels have been evaluated and their association has been assessed in HPV-mediated cervical cancer (CaCx) patients. Women diagnosed with CaCx were tested for HPV infection using conventional PCR. Anthro-demographic and clinicopathological characteristics were recorded and samples from patients (n = 103) and healthy women (n = 108) were analyzed for dyslipidemia (total cholesterol, TC; triglycerides, TG; high-density lipoprotein, HDL; low-density lipoprotein, LDL levels), serum urea, creatinine and uric acid using commercially kits. All statistical analysis was done using SPSS (ver.21.0) and GraphPad. Out of 103 CaCx patients, 86 were HPV + ve and 17 were HPV-ve. BMI was associated with HPV + ve with a higher risk (1.55 folds) while cholesterol was relatively significant in HPV-ve cases with a 1.01 folds crude OR. TG, HDL and LDL were found significantly associated with an increased adjusted OR in HPV + ve cases. Urea levels were found significantly higher in HPV + ve as compared to HPV-ve (1.63 vs 1.12 folds Crude OR). while the adjusted OR became deceased in HPV + ve CaCx patients (1.10) compared to HPV-ve CaCx patients (1.31). Both creatinine and uric acid showed significantly higher adjusted OR (11.07, 1.53) in HPV + ve cases as compared to HPV-ve (10.37, 1.46). Dyslipidemia, renal dysfunction, and uricemia were found clinically significant in CaCx patients. Therefore, TG, HDL, LDL, serum urea, creatinine, and uric acid can be used as prognostic biomarkers for HPV-mediated cervical cancer.
