Abstract
Aim To explore the roles of heat shock protein27(HSP27) and HSP70 in the pathogenesis of endometriosis (EM). Methods Immunohistochemical S P method was employed to detect the expressions of HSP27 and HSP70 in the ectopic tissues and eutopic endometrium of the patients with EM (56 cases) and endometrium of the normal controls (25 cases). In situ hybridization technique was used to examme the transcription level of HSP70 mRNA. Results The expression levels of HSP27 and HSP70 in ectopic and eutopic endometrium in EM were notably higher than that in controls group (both P 0.01). Their expressions were irrespective of the phases of menstrual cycle, namely there was no obvious correlation between the phase and HSP expression levels( P 0.05). Results of in situ hybridization showed that the expression level and the positive rate of HSP70 mRNA in endometriotic tissues(AM and OEM) were both higher than that in normal endometrium ( P 0.01, P 0.05). Conclusion HSPs are overexpressed in endometriosis and adenomyosis, which may play an important role in the pathogenesis of this diseases.
