Abstract

Summary Homogenates of human endometrium from different stages of the menstrual cycle were incubated with strips of copper foil and with cupric ions. The alkaline photophatase activity in homogenates exposed to metallic copper was reduced only during the secretory phase of the cycle; dissolution of the metallic copper was greater in the secretory phase than in the proliferative phase. Cupric ions inhibited alkaline phosphatase activity at all phases of the cycle.
