Abstract
Objective:To examine the immunohistological localization and the expression of TNF α in adenomyosis, and explore the clinical significance of its expression on the pathogenesis of adenomyosis. Methods:SABC immunohistological technique was used to examine the histological localization and expression of TNF α on 33 adenomyosis specimens, and to compare the statistical difference of its expressive intensity according to the staining color of stained cells. Results:The expression of TNF α was founded in adenomyosis.TNF α expressive intensity of eutopic endometrium in the secretory phase was higher than that of proliferative phase, which showed a periodical change in the adenomyosis.TNF α expressive intensity of ectopic endometrium was higher than that of eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium. However, the expression of TNF α of both ectopic endometrium and the myometrium of the adenomyosis did not show significant cycle variation. Conclusion:It is suggested that the expressions of TNF α in adenomyosis is regulated by sex hormones of ovaries and a few of cytokines. The high expression of TNF α of the ectopic endometrium in the adenomyosis may play an important role in the pathogenesis of the adenomyosis.
