Abstract
This study examined the effect of family responsibilities on business commitment by Nigerian female employees in selected small and medium scale enterprises in Benue state. The study specifically examined the effect of increase in family roles, number of children and age of children on business commitment by female employees of SMEs in Benue State. A survey design was adopted for the study. The population consists of 70 staff ofkimbisinternational Hotel, oracle printing press Ltd, steam fast foods, jewel model schools and favourBridasLtd.questionnarairewas used as instrument for datacollection.Descriptivestatistics were used for data presentation and analysis while regression analysis was used for test of hypotheses. Finding of the study revealed that increase in family roles, number of children and age of children have significant effect on business commitment by female employees in selected SMEs in Benue State. The study concludes that the involvement of women in domestic responsibilities affects their level of commitment at work. Recommendations were made amongst others that, female employees should have a balance between their domestic roles and business commitment so that they will be able to show more commitment at workplace.
