A Study of Platform Preferences for Social Networks and Its Positive and Negative Aspects

Abstract
Introduction- Social media has become an integral part of everyone’s life. The lockdown and spread of Covid- 19 has forced all of us to be connected and use various platforms of social media. Though this social media and the online world have proved to be an advantage during lockdown and helped people, especially students all over the world to continue their education. But it also hampered everyone’s life greatly. Objectives- To know the trend of using various social media platforms and to study social media's positive and negative sides.Methodology- It is a Review-based Qualitative study. The literature review has been done by collecting information from secondary sources. To understand the trend and preferences of social media platforms, the last two- year data from Statista is also analyzed here. Findings- Besides YouTube, the Meta platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram are most liked by users.Conclusion- In conclusion, it is shown that social media has both positive and negative impacts on our lives but if we can use it judiciously, it can be a boon to us.
