Abstract

As the COVID-19 pandemic is proving, maintaining student financial wellness is key to keeping students enrolled. Trellis Company’s Student Financial Wellness Survey (SFWS) provides institutions with the strong empirical evidence needed to understand the finances of their student body and to identify factors that impede student success. The SFWS was administered in the fall of 2020, before vaccines were available and as students were beginning their first full year in the shadow of the pandemic. This report details aggregate findings from 38,000 undergraduate students at 62 colleges and universities across 13 states in the U.S. While not nationally representative, responses were weighted to reflect the total composition of participating institutions.
