Abstract
Objective to evaluate the levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),and to investigate the cytokine production of T helper cell(T H)1,T H2 subsets in patients with endometriosis. Methods The levels of IL-6 in sera and peritoneal fluid(PF) of 22 endometriotic patients and 10 normal women were determined by RIA.The IFN-γ levels of those were determined by ELISA.Results Contents of IL-6 in EM patients were elevated both in sera and PF[(207.32±72.35)pg/ml and (215.77±58.39)pg/ml,respectively].The levels of IFN-γ in PF in EM group were higher than those in normal contrast group(P0.05),but there were no significant difference between the levels of IFN-γ in sera in EM group and in normal contrast group. Conclusion Changes of IFN-γ and IL-6 contents in EM qatients may reflect functional imbalance between T H1 and T H2 cells, which may play a role in the pathogenesis of EM.
