This makes them particularly sensitive to climate change. Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd., a perennial herb belonging to the genus Bupleurum of the Apiaceae family, is a typical temperate plant and has received extensive attention due to its medicinal value. In this study, 529 distribution points of Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd. were used to draw the actual distribution map of the current species, and the Maxent model was applied to construct the current and future potential distribution models of the species. The research results show that the coefficient of temperature seasonal variation, the average temperature of the coldest quarter, the coefficient of precipitation seasonal variation, and the precipitation of the warmest quarter are the most significant environmental variables affecting the distribution of Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd. Based on future climate conditions, the total area of the predicted potential suitable habitats for species will increase, while the area of highly suitable habitats will decrease, and the distribution area will shift towards the mid- and high-latitude regions. Based on the above research findings, a series of protection strategies are proposed, which provide a basis for the sustainable development and utilization of Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd., a plant species, and also offer references for the protection and rational utilization of other endangered medicinal plants.
