Abstract

Objective To study IGF-1 Levels of Serum and peritoneal fluid (PF) in endometriosis(EM), and its role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods IRMA method was used to measure IGF-1 concentrations in serum and peritoneal in the patient with endometriosis (28 cases) and normal women (15 cases) ,Results The mean serum and PF IGF-1 Levels of control and early-stage patients were significantly lower than those in the late stage (P0.05). IGF-1 levels of serum and PF in early-stage endometriosis were similar to those in controls. Conclusion IGF-1 may be an important mediator in the development and/or maintenance of severe endometriosis or progression to late-stage disease. It is suggested that IGF-1 is probably associated with its potential involvement the pathoplysiology of endometriosis.
