Abstract
To investigate the proliferative potential in ectopic endometrium was determined by immunohistochemistry the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), which is considered a factor in the growth of tumors. In ectopic endometrium also determined the expression of carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA), which is considered a predictor of malignancy of tumors.Histological examination of extirpation uterus was conducted in 35 women of first groups with internal endometriosis, the second group consisted of 52 patients with external endometriosis and the third group consisted of 19 patients with extragenital endometriosis, which was performed resection of endometriosis lesions. The study revealed that the majority of endometrial ectopia was CEA-negative, on the basis of which we can speak of a low propensity to malignancy potential of all forms of endometriosis.Lack of expression of CEA in all patients with extragenital endometriosis may indicate the lowest probability of malignant transformation of endometrioid heterotopias is in their extragenital localization
