Long-term Safety of Levonorgestrel-releasing Intrauterine System in the Treatment of Endometriosis

Objective To analyze and discuss the clinical efficacy and safety of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system in the treatment of patients with endometriosis. Methods 80 patients with endometriosis admitted to this hospital from May2013 and June 2014 were included in this study and randomly divided into control group and treatment group with 40 in each one. The clinical effect, adverse reaction, and the levels of MMP-9, TIMP-1 before and after treatment of the patients was analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results After 6 months of treatment, the levels of serum MMP-9,TIMP-1 decreased more significantly in treatment group than in the control group, in addition, the overall effective rate was95%(38 cases) in the treatment group, significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant, P0.05. No statistically significant difference can be found in adverse reaction rate between the two groups, P0.05. Conclusion Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system in the treatment of patients with endometriosis is worthy of clinical promotion due to its good effect and high safety.
