On the mod 5 congruences of Kiming and Olsson

Abstract

In this note, we present an alternate proof of a result of Kiming and Olsson related to multiset partitions. We show that certain derivatives of powers of the generating function of the partition function obey specific congruences, then show that similar congruences apply to our multiset partitions.
