Abstract
Objective:To study the expression and significance of osteopontin(OPN)in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis. Methods: The preoperational level of serum and peritoneal fluid OPN was measured by enzyme-linked immunosobent assay in 40 cases of endometriosis.Rerults:(1)The preoperational level of serum OPN was significantly higher(46.68±16.38)ng/ml(16.69~101.85ng/ml)in 40 patients with endometriosis than that of healthy controls(P0.05).The level of peritoneal fluid OPN in patients with endometriosis(47.47±15.90)ng/ml(20.35~97.56ng/ml)was also higher than that of healthy controls(P0.05).(2)The preoperational level of serum and peritoneal fluid OPN in patients with endometriosis of Ⅲ~Ⅳ stadges were significantly higher than that in patients with endometriosis of I~Ⅱ stadges(P0.05).(3)Positive correlation was found between the expression of OPN in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis(P0.05).There was positive correlation between the expression of OPN in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients of healthy controls(P0.05).Conclusions: OPN is over expressed in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis, which suggests that OPN may be correlated with adherence, aggression and angiogenesis in endometriosis. Then OPN can promote the evolvement of endometriosis. The level of serum OPN may be useful in early diagnosis of endometriosis.
