Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the role of orphanin (OFQ) in the patients of endometriosis (EM) with pain. Methods:29 patients of EM with severe pain (severe group), 31 patients with slight pain (slight group) and 25 patients without pain(control group) were studied. The concentrations of plasma OFQ were measured by radioimmunoassay. Results:The levels of OFQ in severe group, slight group and control group were (39.82±9.16)ng.L -1 , (28.45±7.38)ng.L -1 and (17.73±4.62)ng.L -1 respectively. The level of plasma OFQ in pain group was significantly higher than that in the control group( P 0.01, P 0.05), the plasma OFQ in severe pain group was significantly higher than the slight pain group( P 0.05). Conclusions:Pain was associated with OFQ in patients of endometriosis with pain , the changes of OFQ levels in plasma may play an important role on pain modulation.
