OP20.08: Using vaginal ultrasound in diagnosis of endometritis

Pelvic inflammatory disease (Endometritis) is a common disease especially in patient who are seeking fertility treatment and recurrent abortions; and many patient will be seen for other complains such spotting, lower backache, dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain. Usually the diagnosis will depend on invasive procedure and histopathology. Can vaginal Ultrasound help gynecologist in detecting those patients? Sub-endometrial congestion SEC: is an ultrasound mark which might be useful in detecting these patients? Uterine muscular wall has the same density on ultrasound at all parts of it, but if there is any increased in the vascularity in any area of the uterine wall it will be appear as low density echogenic area. 50 patient were diagnosed with chronic endometritis by biopsy and were found to have the SEC mark by vaginal ultrasound after that we have 304 more patient were seen over the last 12 month and treated for endometritis without using the biopsy only using a good medical history & pelvic exam with the help of SEC mark. After treatment these 304 patients until they become disease free and followed by vaginal us and pelvic exam and the resolution of patients complaint: 290 of patients became symptomatic free The SEC mark was resolved in 292 of the patient However further investigation and studies are needed.
