Abstract

Objective To study the role of estrogen during establishment of endometriosis model in rat. Methods 40 rats were randomly divided into four groups: Group A,estrogen was given before making models;Group B,estrogen was given after making models;Group C,estrogen was given during the progress of making models;Group D,the normal control group. The rat endometriosis model was established by using john's method and the diameters of rat uterus and the size of ectopic cyst in models was observed. The expressions of OPN and MMP-9 was detected by using immunohistochemical method in normal and ectopic endometriums. Results The uterine diameter of group A was larger than that in group B before making models(P0.05).The uterine diameter of group D was smaller than that in other groups. The uterine diameter in group C was larger when second operation.Comparing with group B and D,the volume of cysts in group C were bigger, but showed the same volume in group A,and compared to group A and C,the volume of cysts in group D were significantly small(P0.05),but showed the same volume in group B(P0.05).The expression of MMP-9 in group C was significantly higher than that in group A,B and D,which showed the same expression. The expression of OPN in group D was significantly higher than that in group A,B and C,which showed the same expression. There was similar success rate of model establishment in four groups. Conclusion Estrogen is effective in the endometriosis models in rat,but don't affect modeling rate.
