Abstract
A clinical analysis of two thousand consecutive cases of diagnostic laparoscopy performed from June,1974 to December, 1983 has been done. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1.Clinical indications for laparoscopy were primary and secondary infertility in pregnancy in 8.3%, obscure pelvic mass in 4.4%,and primary amenorrhea in 3.7%. 2.The pelvic abnormalities were found in 86.8% in infertility cases. They were represented bilateral tubal occlusion(35.7%), pelvic adhesion(18.0%), unilateral tubal occlusion(13.9%), previous salpingectomy(9.8%), polycystic ovary(2.4%). 3.Complete agreement between hysterosalpingogram and subsequent diagnostic laparoscopy for the tubal patency showed in 74.6%. 4.In 73 cases of primary amenorrhea, Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome- was 25 cases(34.2%), gonadal dysgenesis was 23 cases(31.5%) and uterine-agenesis was 12 cases(16.4%). 5. Application of laparoscopy precluded the need for major surgery in 14.9% of patients whom laparotomy was contemplated on clinical impression.
