An Environmental Risks Management Model in Agriculture: Public Policies and Law

The research deals with a model proposal for environmental risk management in agricultural production with a view to public policies and law. Agricultural production has been tied to nature since its emergence. However, the environmental shifts caused by climate change and the direct action of human beings significantly affect agricultural development. Therefore, risk management finds fertile ground in the agricultural industry, particularly environmental risk management. This research aims to set up a model for environmental risk management in agricultural production, taking a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary view through the relationship between public policies and law. This article combines a vision from agricultural economics, management and social and legal sciences. Within the structure, general guidelines for environmental risk management in agricultural production are set up; an environmental risk management model is designed, and some public policies and law guidelines are provided. The research’s main result is to obtain a model for managing environmental risks in agricultural production, focusing on the relationship between law and public policy. The methods used are legal-theoretical, legal analytical, analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive.
